Natural Stone Tiles And Their Maintenance

Natural stone is a precious stone that is frequently used to design the indoors and outdoors of a home. They render a luxurious feel to your interiors. These days, you can find several types of natural stones like granite, marble, turpentine, sandstone and limestone. People use various stones to provide a royal look to their homes. However, natural stones are highly prone to stains and scratches, hence they require regular maintenance.

There is a famous saying that “Prevention is better than cure”. Hence, you should keep proper care of your tiles and floorings so that they don't suffer from any scratches or stains. The granite tiles tend to get stained due to spilling of oil or acids; therefore you should clean the spills as soon as possible. Later on, you can also wash the flooring with mild soap and water. You should keep the marble tiles away from the Sharp furniture or utensils, since marble tiles are highly prone to scratches which are difficult to remove. In order to prevent the floorings, you must mop the floors at regular intervals of time so they don't catch any stains or dust particles.

However, if stains and scratches occur, then you can clean them with various acids and chemicals. If your home has granite counter tops, then you can clean them with help of acetone, mineral spirits, bleach etc. However, food stains can be cleaned with help of a concentrated solution of hydrogen peroxide and a few drops of ammonia. You can clean marble floor with mild detergents and hot water. However, if the stains still remain, then you can use ammonia to clean them up. However, you should avoid excess ammonia, since it can hamper the shine of the marble tiles.

So, keep proper care of your tiles because there's no substitute to natural stones when it comes to beauty and style.
